Venous Clot Treatment

Clots in the legs, known as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), can cause pain, swelling, and heaviness.  Treatment includes blood thinners, removing the clots, and opening the veins.

Clots in the lungs, known as pulmonary embolism (PE) can cause difficulty breathing and chest pain. Treatment includes blood thinners and removing the clots.

Men's Health

Enlarged prostate from benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) can cause urinary frequency, hesitation, and weak stream. Embolization is a treatment option to shrink the prostate.

Abnormal gonadal veins can lead to varicoceles and cause infertility, scrotal heaviness, and discomfort. Embolization is an option to block off the abnormal veins.

Cirrhosis and Portal Hypertension

Scarring of the liver, known as cirrhosis, can lead to high pressure in the veins called portal hypertension. This can cause build up of fluid (ascites) in the abdomen which can be drained on a regular basis (paracentesis), or the fluid can be decreased with a portal-systemic shunt (TIPS) by redirecting blood flow.

Portal hypertension can also lead to abnormal veins (varices) of the esophagus and stomach and cause potentially life-threatening bleeding. The varices can be treated with embolization and TIPS.

SERVICES

We utilize minimally invasive techniques to treat complex conditions with precision and clinical excellence.

Arterial Disease Management

Blocked arteries of the legs, known as peripheral arterial disease (PAD) can lead to pain with walking and foot wounds. Treatment includes removing plaque and opening the arteries to improve blood flow to the feet.

Thyroid nodules

Non cancer thyroid nodules can lead to cosmetic concerns, pressure sensation, or discomfort with swallowing. Ablation is a minimally invasive option to shrink the nodule.

Internal bleeding

Injuries can lead to internal bleeding from organs including the liver, kidney, spleen, and pelvis. Bleeding can be treated with embolization to block off the injured arteries.

Gastrointestinal bleeding can lead to bloody or dark colored throw-up or stools. A treatment option is embolization to block off the bleeding arteries.

Women's Health

Fibroids can cause heavy menstrual periods, cramping, urinary and bowel symptoms. Embolization is a minimally invasive option to shrink the fibroids.

Pelvic venous disease can lead to pelvic pain, bloating, heaviness, and discomfort during sex. Treatment includes embolization to block off the abnormal pelvic veins and possibly stenting to open up blocked veins.

Biliary Stones

Stones in the gallbladder or in the bile ducts can cause pain and infections. Treatment option includes drainage, breaking up and removing the stones.

Central Venous Occlusion

Large veins can get narrowed by cancer or from scarring related to long term venous catheters, known as central venous occlusion. This can lead to swelling of the head and neck or of the legs depending on the area of blockage. The veins can be opened up to improve blood flow back to the heart.
